List of supported mobile operating systems for WhatsApp#

To use WhatsApp, it is recommended to use the following operating systems, version not lower:

  • Android version 5.0 or higher.
  • iPhone with iOS 12 or higher.

Important: from May 5, 2025 the minimum OS version for iPhone will be iOS 15.1.

To get started with WhatsApp, install the mobile application and register your phone number on this device.

Please note: your phone must be able to receive SMS or calls to verify the number. Devices that work only via Wi-Fi are not suitable for creating new accounts.
